01 — About

Hello there.

I'm Aditya Patel, a mechatronics engineer studying and living in Germany. I work where software meets hardware: teaching robots to see, writing firmware for lab instruments, and designing the mechanical parts in between.

Away from the workbench I travel and hike, chase live music, play guitar, and take video games more seriously than I probably should.

Currently: research master's at THWS Schweinfurt, open to collaborations.

02 — Experience

Where I've worked.

Apr 2025 — Present THWS · IMES · Fresenius Medical Care

Master's thesis — impedance spectroscopy meets ML

From spectra to insights: data-driven analysis of electrolyte impedance spectrograms using machine learning and design of experiments, run on automated custom measuring systems — in collaboration with Fresenius Medical Care.

Jan — Apr 2025 Fraunhofer ISC · IMES · THWS

Bachelor's thesis — characterising the skin barrier

Characterisation of the skin tissue barrier through impedance spectroscopy. I optimised and characterised the precision and accuracy of the custom measuring device, and optimised the Python GUI that controls and manages it — built on an EVAL-AD5940ELCZ front end handling 24 samples in a single experiment.

Oct — Nov 2024 Fraunhofer ISC · IMES Schweinfurt

Machine vision for EV-battery recycling

Industry project automating EV-battery cell disassembly. Built three fine-tuned object-detection models with live post-processing — one for each recycling stage — feeding pick coordinates directly to the robot.

Oct — Dec 2024 IMES Schweinfurt

PLC programming student assistant

Wrote the control logic for the nanoparticle-dialysis system on a Siemens ET200SP PLC, and interfaced the actuators and sensors around it.

Mar — Aug 2024 Uniklinik Würzburg · Fraunhofer · IMES

Lab automation intern

Contributed to a custom nanoparticle dialysis system for medical research — firmware development on Texas Instruments hardware plus supporting electronics and hardware design.

Aug — Oct 2023 TRIPS GmbH

Production & commissioning

Shop-floor work over the semester break: inventory control and management, reading engineering schematics, and servicing relays, PLCs and motion controllers.
